The TP-Link EAP680 (SKU: EAP680) is an AX6000 ceiling mount Wi-Fi 6 access point from the Omada SDN range. It is designed for business environments that need high performance, such as offices, campuses, retail premises, hotels and meeting rooms.
The EAP680 delivers dual-band Wi-Fi 6 speeds of 1148 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 4804 Mbps on 5 GHz, a combined 5952 Mbps. OFDMA and MU-MIMO raise network capacity by up to 4× versus Wi-Fi 5 in high-density environments, so more devices can connect at once. A 2.5 Gigabit PoE+ port boosts wired throughput, and the unit can be powered by 802.3at PoE+ or by the included DC power adapter, so installation is flexible.
As part of Omada SDN, the access point can be managed locally or from the cloud via a web UI or the Omada app. It supports hardware, software and cloud-based controllers for centralised management. Ceiling and wall mounting kits are included.

FAQs
Can I connect an EAP directly to my modem?
No. An EAP is an access point, not a Wi-Fi router, so a router is still needed in your network. It can be connected to any router, including non-TP-Link models, to improve wireless coverage.
Can I use an EAP with a Deco unit?
Yes, if you connect the EAP to the Deco unit via an Ethernet cable. EAP Mesh cannot work wirelessly with Deco Mesh because the two mesh mechanisms are different.
Does an EAP provide DHCP service?
No. A DHCP server must be present in your network for clients to connect successfully.
How can I reduce wireless interference between access points?
Use different channels on adjacent access points, and consider lowering transmit power where access points are placed close together (less than about 12 metres apart).
How do I set up an EAP without a controller?
You can set up an Omada EAP in standalone mode using either the Omada app or a web browser.
