EP-S16 - Ubiquiti EdgePoint S16 16 Port PoE Outdoor WISP Switch with 4x 54V/24V PoE Ports and 12x 802.3af/at PoE Ports, Pole/Wall Mount
Description
Description
The Ubiquiti EdgePoint S16 (EP-S16) is an application-specific WISP control point built for outdoor deployment. With 16 Gigabit RJ45 ports, 2 x 1/10G SFP+ ports and flexible passive PoE output, it lets wireless internet service providers power and connect airMAX, airFiber and other radios from a single weatherproof enclosure mounted on a pole, tower or wall.
The EP-S16 uses a diecast aluminium alloy and UV-resistant polycarbonate enclosure and is rated for an ambient operating temperature of -40 to 65°C. It has a wind survivability rating of 200 km/h, making it well suited to exposed rooftop and tower sites. It is also NDAA compliant.
Key Features
- 16 x 10/100/1000 RJ45 ports plus 2 x 1/10 Gbps SFP+ ports for fibre uplinks
- 4 x 54V or 24V passive PoE output ports (ports 1 to 4, 4-pair, up to 1.4A) ideal for airFiber and other 4-pair devices
- 12 x 802.3af/at or 24V passive PoE ports (ports 5 to 16, 2-pair, 24V up to 0.7A) for airMAX and other devices
- Flexible power input: DC terminal block (42 to 56V DC, 6A) or passive PoE input on ports 1 and 2 (54V, 1.5A each), with diode-ORed protection on all power inputs
- Per-port power monitoring of input and PoE output power
- Pole or wall mounting with the included brackets and metal straps
- RJ45 serial console port for CLI management, plus UISP management support
- Hot-swappable SFP+ ports supporting 1/10 Gbps fibre modules
- Layer 2 switching with some layer 3 capabilities
- Maximum power consumption of 40W (excluding PoE output)
- Compact outdoor enclosure measuring 326.6 x 382.7 x 88.8 mm and weighing 3.4 kg
Ideal for: WISPs, rural broadband providers, tower and rooftop network installers, and integrators who need a rugged outdoor PoE switch to power and aggregate multiple wireless radios.
Power Planning
The number of devices you can power depends on the power input and the load of the connected devices. As an example from the manufacturer's guide, a 54V DC, 1.5A input provides 81W, leaving 41W for PoE output once the EdgePoint's own 40W maximum consumption is accounted for. Please note that PoE is disabled by default, and -48V DC input is not supported.
What's in the Box

Compatible Products
Ubiquiti EdgePower 54V 150W (EP-54V-150W)
A Ubiquiti power supply that can be connected to the DC terminal block to power the EdgePoint and its passive PoE output.
Ubiquiti airMAX and airFiber Radios
Ports 5 to 16 power airMAX and other 2-pair PoE devices, while ports 1 to 4 support 54V or 24V 4-pair passive PoE for airFiber devices.
Ubiquiti PicoStation M2HP
An optional PicoStation M2HP (not included) can be mounted to the back of the EdgePoint for wireless management.
Compatible 1/10G SFP/SFP+ Fibre Modules
The SFP+ ports accept 1/10 Gbps fibre modules. For extreme temperatures, Ubiquiti recommends industrial-grade modules.
FAQs
Can I power the EP-S16 with -48V DC?
No. The supported DC input range is 42 to 56V DC, and -48V is not supported.
Which ports support PoE output?
Ports 1 to 4 provide 54V or 24V 4-pair passive PoE, and ports 5 to 16 provide 802.3af/at or 24V 2-pair passive PoE.
Can I connect airFiber devices to ports 5 to 16?
No. Ports 5 to 16 support 2-pair PoE only, so 4-pair devices such as airFiber should be connected to ports 1 to 4.
Is PoE enabled by default?
No. PoE is disabled by default and is configured per port through the management interface.
Can the EP-S16 be mounted on a pole or wall?
Yes. It supports both pole and wall mounting, and the required brackets and straps are included.
