The TP-Link FC311B-2 Gigabit WDM Media Converter (SKU: FC311B-2) links your copper Ethernet network to a single-mode fibre run, converting between electrical and optical signals. It has one Gigabit RJ45 port and one Gigabit SC fibre port. Because it uses WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) technology, it sends and receives data over a single strand of fibre. That helps you reach up to 2 km while saving half of the cable deployment cost.
The FC311B-2 transmits at 1310 nm and receives at 1550 nm. The device at the other end of the link must therefore transmit at 1550 nm and receive at 1310 nm. TP-Link lists the TL-FC311A-2 as one converter that can work with it.
