Description

The Ubiquiti Flex 2.5G 8 is a flexible, 8-port 2.5 GbE switch. It has a 10 GbE RJ45/SFP+ combination uplink port and can be powered with a USB-C or PoE+ adapter.

Does this switch provide PoE to connected devices?

No, this is the non-PoE model, so it does not power connected devices. It can itself be powered by PoE+ input or by the included 5V, 3A USB-C adapter.

What ports does the USW-Flex-2.5G-8 have?

It has eight 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports that also support 1G, 100M and 10M. There is also a 10 GbE RJ45 port that doubles as the PoE+ power input, plus a 10G SFP+ port (10G/1G) in a combination arrangement.

How can I power this switch?

It can be powered through a USB-C connection (5V DC, 3A) using the included Australian power pack, or through PoE+ on the 10 GbE input port. Maximum power consumption is 14W either way.

What mounting options does it support?

The compact polycarbonate body is designed for desktop, wall, DIN or magnetic mounting. It measures 212.9 x 76 x 33.5 mm and weighs 395 g.

What are the switching performance figures?

It offers 60 Gbps switching capacity, 30 Gbps total non-blocking throughput and a 45 Mpps forwarding rate. It supports 256 VLANs and a 4,000-entry MAC address table.

Great 8 port switch to get started with a 2.5Gbe network. Performance is very good, but it does get a bit warm. I initially had it mounted upside down under my desk, but had to move it as it would slowly heat the desk area above it. This may not be an issue if mounted vertically to a wall, but the extra heat should be noted.
Otherwise, great switch!
