As of January 15th, 2021, older versions of XG Firewall v18 firmware, including GA and MR1 will no longer receive IPS signature updates as the IPS engine will no longer be supported. Firewalls that have already been updated to XG Firewall v18 MR3 (or later) or running v17.5 require no action. We recommend that all v18 firewalls be updated to MR3 or later prior to January 15th for uninterrupted IPS protection. After January 15th, XG Firewall v18 devices not running MR3 or later will still function normally but will not receive new IPS signatures. XG Firewall v18 MR3 also introduces a number of additional security, performance, and feature enhancements, including a new option to schedule firmware updates from Sophos Central.
