What is Pre-Order / Special Order

We are just not quite the same as many of the other online stores.  I know it is easy to say that, but we just aren't.

The Tech Geeks, under their parent company Twelve Times (Worldwide) Pty Ltd trade in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

This allows us to purchase stock from suppliers from locations where they have it available.    We are then able to import those products directly, along with providing localised Warranty and Replacement as required.

We only list items that we know have been, or are about to be released to us and since we purchase only in small batches these are often flown in on short time frames.

We list on each product our expected shipments and ones that we have already sent out to customers.   Please use these dates as a guideline as we always suggest 14-21 days just to allow for air freight or customs hold ups.

Want to know when new product stock is released? why not sign up here to our alerts.

Description

The DrayTek VigorSwitch P2542xh

The VigorSwitch P2542xh is a high‑performance Layer 2+ managed switch featuring 48 × Gigabit PoE/PoE+ ports and 6 × 10G SFP+ fibre uplinks. With a substantial 680W PoE power budget, it supports a wide range of power‑hungry devices while maintaining dependable operation through PoE scheduling and priority controls. Dual AC and DC power inputs provide deployment flexibility and redundancy. Advanced Layer 3 features, including DHCP Server and VLAN Routing, enhance network efficiency and ensure LAN services continue even if the gateway is offline, making it ideal as a core switch for SMEs and SMBs.

Key Features
•     PoE (Power over Ethernet) – Supplies power and data over one Ethernet cable, with PoE scheduling for automated control.
•     10G SFP+ – Provides high‑speed fibre uplinks for aggregation or core‑switch connectivity.
•     ONVIF‑Friendly – Detects ONVIF surveillance devices, displays camera topology, and supports video streaming and remote maintenance.
•     Wire‑Speed VLAN Routing – Routes inter‑VLAN traffic directly on the switch to offload the router.
•     IPv6 Ready – Supports IPv6 features including MLD Snooping, IPv6 ACL, and IPv6 DNS Resolver.
•     Auto Surveillance & Voice VLAN – Automatically identifies IP cameras and IP phones and applies QoS tags.
•     Web‑Based GUI – Provides an intuitive interface for monitoring ports and hardware status.
•     IP Conflict Prevention – Detects and blocks misconfigured or malicious hosts.
•     Multiple Admin Accounts – Supports multiple administrators with two privilege levels.
•     Access Control – Supports IP/MAC ACLs and 802.1x port access control with RADIUS.
•     Central Switch Management – Enables VLAN setup and centralised monitoring from a Vigor router.
•     QoS (Quality of Service) – Prioritises critical traffic using CoS, DSCP, and IP Precedence.
•     Energy‑Efficient Ethernet – Reduces power consumption via IEEE 802.3az compliance.
•     LLDP‑MED – Detects VoIP devices, simplifies VLAN assignment, and prioritises voice traffic.
•     Stacking – Allows up to four switches to operate as one for improved scalability, resilience, and simplified management.

Further Details:

Advanced Layer 2+ Features
The switch includes a DHCP Server supporting up to eight VLANs and VLAN Routing supporting up to 512 routes. These features reduce router workload and keep LAN services operating even when the gateway is offline.

Bind IP to MAC
As a DHCP server, the switch can reserve IP addresses for important devices, ensuring consistent access for frequently used endpoints.

Stacking — Powers a Resilient Network
Up to four P2542xh units can be stacked to form a unified, self‑recovering system. If one unit or link fails, traffic is automatically rerouted with no service interruption. Stacking provides single‑IP management, configuration synchronisation, centralised firmware updates, and real‑time monitoring.

ONVIF‑Friendly
The switch detects ONVIF devices across VLANs, displays camera topology, and enables remote maintenance such as rebooting or resetting devices. It can also take periodic snapshots and send alerts when cameras stop responding, with PoE models able to power‑cycle affected ports automatically.

IP Conflict Detection & Prevention
The switch monitors for IP conflicts and alerts administrators when issues arise. It can also block problematic hosts to maintain a stable network environment.

Device Check
Continuously pings LAN devices and sends alerts if they stop responding. On PoE models, it can automatically power‑cycle the affected port.

LAN Management
DrayTek’s management platform enables automatic device discovery, remote provisioning, centralised monitoring, and system maintenance (such as configuration backup or remote reboot) directly from a Vigor router.

Software Management
VigorACS 3
Provides provisioning, monitoring, hierarchical views, alarms, remote maintenance, and scheduled reporting.
